It has been ages since I let you know what is going on at RB Beads! It has been a very quiet couple of months while people are on holiday and out and about in the lovely weather, not so much spare time for crafting!!

Next month I am starting 2 new groups at RB beads, Beads for Beginners and Bead and Blather. Both groups do exactly what they say on the tin!!

Beads for Beginners starts on the 22nd September 2011 from 7.30pm – 9.30pm, and is for brand new or inexperienced beaders. I will be teaching spiral staircase. The cost is £6 not including beads, beads can be purchased on the evening or before! I will be teaching a new stitch every month. In October we will be making brick stitch christmas tree decorations!

Bead and Blather starts on the 15th September 2011 from 7.30pm – 9.30pm, and is for beaders of any experience. A chance to sit and bead, and of course blather with like-minded beady people. Need help?? Bring along any projects you are struggling with, there will always be someone who can help!! The cost is £4.

Necklace for my nieces’ christening!

I decided on Thursday that I needed a necklace to go with my outfit for my Nieces’ christening on Sunday. Vicky Fisher had already made me earrings and a cuff, so I decided to make something in the same colours.

So here it is

I decided to bead around a 14mm jet swarovski rivoli and embellish it with 4mm olivine swarovski bicones. I used a simple spiral staircase to make the necklace with miyuki size 11 black seed beads for the core and then the spirals are made with DB910 cut and DB11 cut. I am delighted with the necklace and many people commented on it at the christening.

Well I decided to do some beading since I haven’t made myself anything in a while. I wanted something a bit funky to go with plain coloured t-shirts in the summer. (If we get one!)

It is made with Miyuki Delica size 11′s and 15′s. The links are from a pattern for a toggle clasp, and I just linked them together to make a chain.

I used 6 Miyuki Delica size 11 colours – DB117 lavender blue gold luster, DB44 silver lined aqua blue, DB914 cut sparkle dark pink lined crystal, DB918 cut sparkle teal lined crystal, DB758 opaque matte light amethyst purple and DB169 opaque chartreuse AB.

The size 15′s are – DBS117 lavender blue gold luster, DBS860 matte chartreuse AB, DBS44 silver lined aqua and DBS158 opaque lilac AB.

It’s a great project for using up small amounts of beads that you may have left over from other projects!

Well what a great day!

We held the first of many workshops today at at RB Beads. Vicky Fisher taught a group of 20 ladies her Herringbone Twist Cuff.

We had a great day with lots of chatting, laughing and beading! Lunch was included and we had homemade cakes with tea/coffee in the afternoon. The workshop was from 10am – 4pm.

Great news this week!! My fab beady friend Vicky Fisher (www.blunique.co.uk) has got her very own Miyuki Tila Bead design on the front cover of Beads and Beyond.

The materials needed for the projects are

White pearl Miyuki Tila beads 10g

Sparkle rose lined crystal Miyuki size 15 seed beads (1 tube)

Blue lined aqua AB Miyuki size 11 seed beads (1 tube)

Opaque white Delica bead DB200 (1 tube)

Opaque turquoise Delica bead DB166 (1 tube)

A day at Leighton Moss RSPB Reserve!

On Easter Monday I went to Leighton Moss RSPB Reserve with my Husband, Kids and my Mum! It was a beautiful day and we all had a great time! The day was tinged with a little bit of sadness due to my Dad no longer being with us to enjoy these days out, but we all agreed that he would have loved it!

Well as I had my camera in the shop today I thought I would take a picture of my finished delica beaded choker. Here it is -

I’m really pleased with it! It built up quickly and looks very pretty on. I may have to try one in different colours for summer. Maybe DB166 opaque turquoise AB and DB250 ceylon colour lined hyacinth.

I have now started to make a Herringbone Twist Cuff now as a sample for the Workshop I am holding with Vicky Fisher. I’m making it in the green colour way choice!

A fairly quiet day…………..

It was a fairly quiet day at the shop today so I did some more of my necklace, well I suppose it’s more of a neck cuff really.

My uniform in the shop is hot pink and navy so I have used DB2 Iris Blue and DBC914 Sparkle Dark Pink Lined Crystal to make this dainty piece!

I really like it and it builds up quickly!! Delica beads have to be my favourites!!

Hmmm Sunday night……………….ironing is done and I’m all set to get back to my beads tomorrow!

I started a necklace using Miyuki Delica beads on Friday and I might even get some more of it done tomorrow. I’ll post a picture here if I get time!
